The shimmer in these twinkling H2O’s is exciting. Oh how I love playing with them. Today I tried a new substrate… Aqua board! It’s a board ( kind of like canvas)but suitable for painting watercolors on them. This is more comfortable for me since I enjoy painting on canvas. I hope you enjoy watching the process. I must give my online teacher a shout out too- Dion Dior you are the bomb! Thank you for your expert instruction.

Getting my Monet on… and Tuesday’s Treasure Chest
Posted in Art, Gallery, Tuesday's Treasure Chest on August 27, 2013| 9 Comments »
Impressionist paintings have always been a favorite of mine and a couple of months ago I got a chance to paint like Monet (ha) down by Bear Creek in Hubert, NC with some friends of mine. Gail, our hostess and my newest art friend has a beautiful home and studio overlooking the river and she has a Monet-like lilly pond. Rain prevented me from completing my Monet that day but hopefully with a few more brushstrokes it will be finished soon.

Here is the second bunny in my Christmas bunny series. I thought you might enjoy a tutorial, Merry Christmas early!
Materials:
Professional Winsor & Newton canvas board
Acrylic paint in these colors: Liquitex Titanium White, Brilliant Purple, Indo Orange Red, Cadmium Yellow Medium, Cobalt Turquoise Light, Ultramarine Blue
Step one- with watery paint outline basic bunny shape
Step two- start blocking in shadows, I did not use white at this time, instead I mixed some browns with a few of the darker colors plus yellow
Step three-paint background with pretty turquoise and white
Step four-continue painting brown tones then add some white in your mixture for highlights
Step five-add an oval/ circular wreath with dark mixtures of the yellow and blue
This Christmas bunny is not finished yet, I will be selling this bunny rabbit series in November at a local gift shop, Smellie Bloomers in Elizabethtown, NC.
I am accepting Christmas commissions at this time, if you would like for me to create a special Christmas painting for you please contact me within the next couple of weeks, only a limited number will be accepted this year.
